Kamerata Zuid delved deeply into Argentine chamamé for this project. A genre characterized by a mix of European (polka, waltz) and indigenous (Guaraní) influences, featuring the accordion, guitar, and bandoneón as the main instruments. The orchestra traveled to Argentina twice to get to know this music closely and further develop it together with local musicians into Chamamé Sinfónico Nuevo. This new work now resonates for the first time in Tilburg.

The Argentine chamamé, a traditional genre from the northeast of the country, takes on a symphonic form here. The string players of Kamerata Zuid perform alongside South American soloists, with intimacy and power constantly balanced. 

A special role is reserved for Brazilian guitarist Yamandu Costa, renowned worldwide for his virtuosic and expressive playing. His guitar sounds rhythmic, lyrical, and free, forming a natural bridge between folk music and the symphonic sound of the orchestra.

The voice of Nino Zannoni elevates the music to another level. His singing is profound, sometimes fragile, sometimes intense, and strikes straight to the heart. Together with bandoneonist Santiago Cimadevilla, he gives the chamamé extra depth and tension in this new arrangement.

Chamamé Sinfónico Nuevo is not a distant concert, but a musical experience that sweeps you away. Warm, emotional, and full of stories. Music that lingers, even after the last note has sounded.
