Les Nuits Barbares
This story begins with a path... For five years, choreographer Hervé Koubi traveled back and forth between France and Algeria, along the shores of the Mediterranean. A sea that has connected cultures and carried stories for centuries. Les Nuits Barbares is an ode to that shared history. An enchanting dance performance about the power of encounters, about borders that fade, and stories that converge.
Who were the barbarians from the North? The mysterious sea peoples mentioned in the Bible, ancient chronicles, and monuments? And who were the barbarians from the East – the Persians, the Ionian peoples, the Babylonians, the Arabs? Hervé Koubi finds the answer in commonalities: cultures and religions that touch and enrich each other.
Dancers from Algeria and Burkina Faso show you in this impressive performance how tradition and innovation go hand in hand. From classical music by Mozart and Fauré to traditional Algerian sounds – everything comes together on stage.
Les Nuits Barbares is an ode to freedom. A tribute to beauty that connects, rather than divides. And to the Mediterranean, full of light and stories that bind us more than we often think.
Whether this performance has an interval is not yet known.
