Everyone is going mad in this world. Yes, you too. Nobody knows what is real and what is fiction. Surviving seems more like a happy coincidence than the result of smart actions. So we are all Don Quichot: the foolish hero with good intentions. Or not?

How much madness can you convey in one performance? How many unlikely events can you rationalize in your head?

In Not Quichot, six narrators remember their friend Q. But who was Q's best friend? They take you on a journey full of powerful stories: through Europe, over mountains, and through forests, past farmers' protests and burning libraries. A hallucinatory trip where the boundary between reality and imagination keeps blurring.

Writer Joachim Robbrecht and director Sarah Moeremans are the perfect duo to crash a classic like Don Quixote and then extract the strongest elements from the wreckage. Come along on this wild ride!

Het Zuidelijk Toneel is the company of the south, with Tilburg as its home base. From intimate studios to the largest theater halls: the new permanent ensemble of six performers storms the stage everywhere. Energized by artistic leader Sarah Moeremans and a colorful group of resident directors, they present performances that excite, touch, and recharge you with new energy.

What is truth? Not Quichot is a potpourri of impulses that invite you to philosophise about ‘the meaning of fiction’. A tasty theme, and the pleasure with which Robbrecht immersed himself in it can be felt.

The unreliable and detailed stories are delivered humorously, especially by Louis van der Waal and Keja Klaasje Kwestro. The immensely talented and fearless Kwestro hangs out of a bus, rolls down a staircase and falls into the bushes. And in doing so, she steals the show with her physical, sensual and hilarious performance.
